Sunday evening, after golf, members were treated to a Welcome Reception at the hotel and then set off for dinner on their own in Fredericksburg.

President Tim Spicer of Tiger Fuel called Monday’s meeting to order at 8:30am with welcoming remarks, a reminder about the Association’s strict anti-trust policy and then a discussion about a few serious topics happening in the industry.  Dennis Cruise, CETP instructor and VAPGA Outreach Coordinator, reviewed compliance deadlines including Fire Service Analysis on 11/15/08 and bulk plant storage upgrades by 2011 as well as covered information on DOT’s revised drug and alcohol testing requirements (posted on the members section of the propaneva.com website.)  Stuart Flatow from the Propane Education and Research Council spoke to members about detailed planned upgrades to the Certified Employee Testing Program, including a new module that will be offered by VAPGA in 2009.

The Young Gassers, Suppliers, Marketers and Governmental Affairs committees conducted their meetings prior to the General Membership meeting; 43 members participated in committee meetings.  After the General Membership meeting, members were invited to take an optional free tour of the new state-of-the-art Rail Facility in Milford hosted by NGL Supply and Quarles Energy.  Guests were treated to a tour of the facility, Virginia’s largest of this kind.

The evening was concluded with a reception and dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn where “Christian the Magician,” a veteran Washington D.C. performer, entertained the crowd.  Tim Spicer passed out golf awards and prizes and also drew winners for the 50/50 Cash Raffle to benefit the Young Gassers Scholarship Fund.  5 prize winners were drawn and Joe Pennesi of Quarles Petroleum won the cash raffle and generously donated $100.00 back to the scholarship fund.

At Tuesday’s Board Meeting, Jim Trotter of Revere Gas was approved to serve the remaining term for a vacated board position.

The Association and staff would like to thank all members who participated and helped to make this a great Fall Meeting!
