CLEANPOWER 2023 happens between the 22nd and 25th of May, and it just might be the biggest renewable energy conference and exhibition of the year. Given that it brings together key stakeholders in the wind, solar, hydrogen, storage, and energy transmission industries, you might want to incorporate it into your calendar. There are also other perks for attending, as mentioned below.

The Where

CLEANPOWER 2021 was hosted in Salt Lake City, UT, although this was a postponed in-person event in December. The original event was virtual and took place between June 7th and 10th. In 2022 the conference was held in San Antonio, Texas, between May 16th and 19th.

The 2023 conference and exhibition will be held at a new location, i.e., the Ernest N. Morial Convention center, New Orleans, LA. Some sponsors for the American Clean Power Association and, by extension, the CLEANPOWER conference include Applied Energy Services (AES), Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, SUNGROW Power, etc.

Why You Should Go

There are several reasons to attend, depending on why you’re interested in clean energy. If it’s purely out of academic interest, you could learn a lot about clean energy and policies by attending. The four-day event will offer several sessions where you can learn about various industry topics.

You can also get an idea of all the products, services, and technologies that will soon hit the clean energy industry. This way, you have a pulse on the direction of the industry before most other people. Naturally, it can also provide a huge networking opportunity for professionals in the field, allowing you to build your brand.

The 2022 event was a great example of the value you get from attending. Some keynote speakers at the event were Richard Glick, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission chairman, Tommy Beaudreau, the deputy secretary of state at the U.S. Department of the Interior, and even Jennifer Granholm, the secretary of state for the U.S. Department of Energy.

In addition to these policymakers, there were over 385 exhibitors and representatives from all 50 states as well as 30+ other countries. Also, of the over 6000 attendees, 72% were involved in final purchasing decisions. The 2023 conference is likely to improve on these numbers.

How to Speak at the CLEANPOWER Conference & Exhibition

You may also want to present your ideas at the event, in which case the ACP is accepting submissions. These submissions are due by 30th December 2022, and the association should get back to you on acceptance by early February.

Some of the criteria for acceptance include the following:

  • No obvious commercial sales pitches
  • Proposals should be well organized and clear on their relevance to the industry
  • Submissions should also be unique and contain new perspectives or data

You can submit more than one proposal. Also, only one presenter will be allowed on stage in case of acceptance, and you’ll have to work with an allocated time slot. We’ve included a link to the submission page here.
